From a Project Launched at the University ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ to a Nationwide Opportunity: RollingApp Has Taken Off
RollingApp, developed with the professional background of the University ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ and driven by student innovation, takes accessible tourism in Balatonfüred to a new level. Created under the direction of the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, its personally verified database provides practical guidance for people with severe mobility impairments—already serving as an essential tool for everyday travel and trip planning. It will soon be available in Veszprém as well.
In recent years, the Active Association of People with Disabilities, in cooperation with the University ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ and under the direction of Dr. Cecilia Lányi Sikné, university professor (FEIT), along with the contribution of student GergÅ‘ Ondó, created and launched an application called RollingApp, which offers significant help for people with severe mobility impairments.
Gergő Ondó has since become an alumnus of the university; he developed the application in 2023 as the topic of his thesis and continues to maintain it. The association’s project was managed by office director Zsolt Mesterházy. The application has already been presented in several locations, and professionals have confirmed to its creators that RollingApp provides a much-needed service for the target group concerned. They also emphasized that not only people with disabilities should know about this opportunity, but also professionals and service providers working in tourism. The initiative was also presented at the general assembly of the Veszprém Tourism Association.

The creators plan to extend the application to Veszprém after Balatonfüred. It is already available for free on Google Play.
The application’s database is based on personal on-site visits. The developers mapped the city’s transportation routes, accessible parking spaces, restrooms, restaurants, and accommodations, as well as locations that are only partially accessible by wheelchair. They also checked the waterfront areas and the surroundings of the railway station, so users receive accurate, practical information about accessible options.
The development came into focus at the board meeting of the Balatonfüred Tourism Association. On December 2, Sándor Navratyl, president of the Association of People with Mobility Impairments and Their Friends in Balatonfüred, presented the application called RollingApp.
