At the 2025 National Scientific Students' Associations Conference (OTDK), Éva Kenyeres, a student of the University ֱ, was awarded the Nokia Young Scientist Award Special Prize, which is granted by Nokia Hungary to recognize innovative technical and natural science research that promotes technological advancement. The award ceremony took place on June 19, 2025, at Nokia Skypark in Budapest, where the awardees presented their research findings in English to the company’s international professional community.
In her presentation titled “Analysis and Clustering-based Improvement of Particle Filter Optimization Algorithms”, Éva Kenyeres showcased the analysis and development of a novel optimization algorithm, conducted under the professional supervision of Professor János Abonyi during the final stage of her master’s studies. The long-term goal of the research is to explore the applicability of the algorithm for robust optimization. As a first step, the performance of the algorithm was improved by comparing different variants and introducing several enhancements. Additionally, a coupled clustering-based method was proposed for exploring the shape of the objective function. The results of the project are documented in one published paper and another ongoing related study.
Future plans include testing on practical examples, developing a tuning strategy, and examining interoperability with other algorithms.
