In May 2025, the Presidium of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) awarded the title of "Excellent Research Site" to both the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Engineering at the University ֱ, recognizing their outstanding scientific performance and research activities. The designation is valid from May 26, 2025, until June 30, 2030, and is granted to research sites that achieve outstanding scientific results at the international level, play an active role in the academic community, and carry out research and development at a high standard.
The Faculty of Engineering at the University ֱ—whose Natural Science Center had already been recognized as an “MTA Acknowledged Excellent Research Site” in 2022—has played a prominent role in both domestic and international scientific life for years. This success is due to its diverse technical and natural science research portfolio, collaborations with industry and academia, and its strong commitment to talent development. The faculty’s research groups and laboratories have achieved significant results in areas such as sustainable and circular technologies, the oil industry, artificial intelligence and Industry 5.0, biotechnology, as well as chemical and materials sciences. In addition to technological innovation, the faculty's natural science research is also internationally recognized, with outstanding work being done in modeling complex systems, colloid and surface chemistry, materials structure analysis, organic synthesis, limnology, climate research, behavioral ecology, and ecotoxicology. These contributions not only advance science on a theoretical level but also result in practical applications within the industrial sector.
The faculty actively collaborates with industrial partners, and its researchers are behind numerous joint R&D projects, patents, and innovative technological solutions. Its doctoral schools, talent development programs, and the involvement of students in research all contribute to the Faculty of Engineering’s key role in training the professionals of the future.
The scientific title awarded to the faculty is a worthy recognition of the multifaceted and high-level research conducted there, and it further strengthens its position in the international network of scientific knowledge transfer and the promotion of sustainable, innovative solutions.
The Faculty of Information Technology at the University ֱ earned this recognition through its significant research portfolio, national and international industrial collaborations, and its consistent efforts in talent support. The faculty’s research laboratories have achieved noteworthy results in areas such as artificial intelligence, intelligent control systems, machine vision, and medical informatics. In addition, it conducts high-level research in system and process optimization, differential equations and their applications, discrete mathematical structures and related algorithms, as well as virtual and digital environments, light and color science, and efficient electrical energy solutions.
This newly awarded title reaffirms the Faculty of Information Technology’s key role in both the national and international academic and higher education landscapes, further enhancing its professional prestige in research collaborations, grant participation, and support for student excellence.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all colleagues for their high-quality work, which made receiving these prestigious recognitions possible.
